德黑兰附近的一户人家里，十二岁的双胞胎姐妹扎赫拉与玛索默赫被关在铁门后多年，她们的母亲失明，为贫困的生活奔波的保守父亲只能在离家时将大门一锁了事。邻居们不满小姐妹被囚禁的童年，联名致信福利部。社会工作者介入了这家人的生活，父亲为自己受到的指责气愤，又为无望的日子苦闷。姐妹俩被社工推到了街上，她们虽然没钱但是用计吃到了雪糕，又被一个男孩用苹果吸引着前进……而在家里，父亲终于被社工说服，用锯子切断铁条门，孩子们失明的母亲，为触摸不到两个女儿惊慌失措…… 本片是伊朗名导穆森·马克马巴夫之女莎米拉·马克马巴夫的处女作。当时她年仅十八岁。
